Is English your second language? Are you a current ESL student or do you have a background in ESL learning? Do you need support building language competency, such as active listening, comprehension, and communication? 

Join Lingua Franca’s first ESL learning workshop to:
– Review the basics and types of active listening,
– Practice the appropriate use of language through different situations,
– Interact with other ESL students through activities, and most importantly,
– Have fun talking to other ESL learners!

Pronunciation vs Enunciation: How to Effectively Deliver a Speech

In this workshop, we’ll review about pronunciation and enunciation, and how mastering both can help you effectively deliver a speech. Be ready to do fun activities that will allow you to practise these skills and meet new people! Remember to bring yourself and a clean pen/pencil

We will recreate scenarios of when and how to carry out impromptu speech. Have fun doing activities with other participants!

What is Impromptu Speech?

In this workshop, we’ll practice various ways to deliver impromptu speeches together with peers. Icebreaker activities will be facilitated by our mentors and prompt questions will be provided during the impromptu speaking segment of the event. If you want to practice your oral skills in impromptu speaking and alleviate your speech anxiety, this event provides an informal discussion space for you to be comfortable while developing these skills.

Presentation Skills: How to Sound Natural

In this workshop, attendees will be able to apply and practice different presentation tips. This student-led workshop provides a platform for ESL peers to naturally enhance their communication skills. The event will include icebreaker activities along with discussion questions and games while building connections and networking with fellow students.
